Your resolution has failed to resolve. Abort, Retry, Fail?

I have decided to make a New Year’s Resolution. I typically never do, because like many people that do make them, I fail. Epically.

This year, however, will be different. Really, I promise.

I’m sure you want to know what I’m resolving to do. It’s simple: planning for Christmas.

I didn’t plan at all this year, and while I am done with shopping it left me an aggravated, stressed-out mess. I had trouble getting parking at a Walgreens – a WALGREENS! – today, grabbing just a handful of last minute Christmas candy. There was an actual line for the register at said Walgreens. I shook my head in disgust, and the shaking must’ve jarred the right nerves because that’s when I thought to myself:

I can’t believe I’m out here. You’re a tool, Hyland.

It was in that lucid moment that I decided no more. Christmas 2010 is not going to go down like this. Next year, I will be prepared and ready to rock around the Christmas tree like it’s my J-O-B (word). I will have gifts wrapped, cards prepped, and dinners planned. I will not be one of those saps pulling hair in useless fury, cursing everyone else who also decided to wait until the last minute to get Christmas done.

How about you? Any resolutions for next year? Share them!
(after all, committing to something publicly may encourage you to do it.)
